Fourteen worlds, sixteen music modules and a campaign which reshuffles its destinations: Neil Ericson’s Starwinder is now available for AGA Amiga. The vertical shooter was announced on 28th October 2026, with separate floppy, hard-drive and CD32 downloads.
Neil says the project began as his own Amiga game years ago before continuing as both a PC and Amiga release. The two editions share levels, enemies, bosses and scoring, while the Amiga receives converted artwork and new music written for Paula.
Each campaign selects seven of the fourteen worlds and changes their order. That gives the release a different shape from a fixed march through every environment. Each stage ends with a mini-boss, while a seven-part final boss closes the campaign.
There is room for company too, with alternating play and two ships sharing the screen in co-op. Boss Rush and Practice modes accompany the main campaign. The feature list also includes thirteen achievements, graded stage results and a second loop for completing the game without continuing.
Sixteen original four-channel modules provide the Amiga soundtrack. The game takes over the machine rather than running within AmigaOS, although the hard-drive installation has its own Workbench requirements.
The creator lists the A1200, A4000 and CD32 as supported machines, with 2MB of chip RAM. The floppy edition spans nine ADF images; the CD32 package contains ISO and CUE files. Hard-drive users should check the supplied documentation, since memory requirements differ between storage configurations.
Neil reports extensive WinUAE testing and is asking original-hardware owners for feedback. He specifies a 50Hz picture, including on NTSC machines, so display support deserves attention before downloading.
An OCS/ECS edition for earlier Amigas remains in development. For now, the released Amiga version is the AGA edition.
All three packages are available on a name-your-own-price basis from the Starwinder Amiga page. Each includes a README covering its requirements and release format.
