Skate or Die DX has reached Amiga through a conversion from Amigos Retro Gaming, combining graphics and game logic from the Apple IIGS edition with music from NES. The project’s itch.io page dates the released build to 30th October 2026.
Electronic Arts’ skateboarding game appeared on several home computers and consoles. This conversion brings together material from two of those editions, with the Apple IIGS supplying the game’s structure and the NES supplying the music.
Amigos Retro Gaming says the soundtrack fills spaces which previously lacked music. The developer identifies the skate shop and overworld among the areas receiving additional tracks.
Amigos Retro Gaming also reports adjusting every event to run faster, describing the intended pace in terms of the C64 and NES versions. Its release notes identify event speed as a deliberate part of the adaptation.
Skate or Die originally appeared in 1987 as a collection of five skating events. Its competitions mix score chasing, racing and confrontations rather than presenting one continuous course.
The original’s events include both timed racing and judged performance. Freestyle challenges players to earn points on a ramp, while the high jump focuses on height. Downhill Race and Downhill Jam move the competition into overhead-view courses.
The released download comes in two packages: SkateOrDie_A1200.hdf, listed at 16MB, and SkateOrDie_WHDLoad.lha, listed at 2.8MB. One supplies a hard-disk image, while the other packages the conversion for WHDLoad.
Amigos Retro Gaming lists the project as released, with both files available from its Skate or Die DX page. The same page describes the source-version choices and the changes made for this Amiga edition.
