Hacker offers a first look at a new C64 logic puzzler

TheStuffMade is seeking bug reports and GoatTracker contributions as work continues on levels, sound and difficulty options.

TheStuffMade has shared a playable build of Hacker, a new logic puzzle for the Commodore 64. The free PRG download offers an early look at a project still in development.

Published on 22nd October, the build uses a coloured grid and hidden locks. Its puzzle design combines restrictions involving rows, columns, colours and neighbouring squares.

The creator lists support for both PAL and NTSC machines. The current download is hacker01.prg, a 20 kB program, with bug reports invited through the project page.

More levels remain on the development list, alongside difficulty settings ranging from casual to expert. Scoring and high-score recording are also planned.

Audio work remains unfinished. TheStuffMade is seeking suitable GoatTracker music and sound effects from contributors, while game-over and ending screens also await implementation.

The available build therefore represents work in progress rather than a finished release. The creator has supplied no completion date.

The current download and development notes are available on Hacker’s itch.io page.
