Abu Simbel Profanation reaches Spectrum Next with new sprites and backgrounds

Teclasdegoma retains Dinamic’s original logic while changing the temple’s presentation and easing enemy collisions.

Abu Simbel Profanation: Next Edition brings Dinamic’s 1985 Spectrum platformer to the Spectrum Next with hardware sprites and textured room backgrounds.

Developer teclasdegoma released the adaptation on 2nd November 2026. The downloadable NEX file measures approximately 208kB, with name-your-own-price distribution.

The edition retains the original game code and logic. Its main changes concern the presentation of Johnny Jones, the enemies and the temple around them.

Johnny and every enemy use Next hardware sprites. The colour treatment adds directional shading, while the rooms use the Next tilemap with shaded, textured tiles. The developer also lists the removal of colour clash.

Players have access to both the original appearance and the new presentation. Enemy collisions receive a small adjustment intended to make them more forgiving, while spikes and other fixed hazards retain their existing behaviour.

Dinamic’s Víctor Ruiz receives the original game credit.

The download page hosts the build and welcomes feedback.
