The Amiga’s Breathless has a new enhanced edition, with EismanBerlin revisiting the 1995 first-person shooter for Amiga and CD32. Breathless A32 version 1.2 is available to download; its release page was published on 29th October 2026.
Fields of Vision developed the original Breathless, with Power Computing publishing the shooter in 1995. A32 keeps that game at its centre while revising its presentation, enemy behaviour and input options.
The most visible changes include sharper weapon graphics and revised muzzle flashes. There is also an option to remove the helmet overlay, opening up the view for players who prefer the action without its surrounding cockpit. The audio filter is no longer forced on during play.
EismanBerlin describes enemies which use cover and retreat, alongside improvements intended to make the game smoother on 68030 systems. The developer qualifies those performance claims by hardware and settings, so the release should not be read as a promise of identical results across Amiga configurations.
CD32 support receives particular attention. The adaptation extends joypad operation and stores settings in the console’s memory, reducing reliance on a keyboard. Full mouselook is also listed among the broader input changes, alongside support for both AGA graphics and suitably equipped P96 systems.
There is a separate caution for owners of an unexpanded CD32. The creator says the original hardware imposes strict performance limits, and advises against expecting substantial further gains from optimisation alone.
The project page also records permission from original Breathless programmer Alberto Longo for distribution through itch.io or Aminet. EismanBerlin thanks the original team and presents A32 as an enhancement of their work.
The Breathless A32 download page lists an Amiga LHA archive and a separate CD32 ZIP package, both labelled version 1.2. Downloads are offered on a name-your-own-price basis, with installation and configuration details in the included documentation.
