Mickey Mouse fan game Forest of Illusion moves from Amiga to Neo Geo

New images accompany the platform change, with Ansimuz supplying level graphics and DomKid aiming to finish development before the year ends.

Forest of Illusion, DomKid’s fan-made Mickey Mouse platformer, has switched its target platform from Amiga to Neo Geo. The developer confirmed the change to Time Extension, alongside an ambition to finish the game before the end of 2026.

The latest update includes the first images of the Neo Geo version, with level graphics supplied by Ansimuz.

Forest of Illusion first appeared in Amiga coverage in 2023. At the time, DomKid was building the game with Scorpion Engine, describing a new adventure inspired by Mickey’s earlier platform outings.

The video below shows the earlier Amiga version.

Four Mega Drive adventures supply the inspiration

The project combines elements from Castle of Illusion, World of Illusion, Mickey Mania and Fantasia. DomKid plans to draw characters, enemies and music from those four Mega Drive games for Forest of Illusion.

DomKid previously worked on the Castlevania fan game Maria Renard’s Revenge.
