Jaz Rignall and Paul Glancey announce Golden Age gaming magazine

A free 38-page sample previews the pair’s return to writing about twentieth-century computers, consoles and arcade games.

Julian ‘Jaz’ Rignall and Paul Glancey have announced Golden Age, a subscriber-only magazine about twentieth-century video games. Their official website sets 5th November 2026 as the launch date for its Kickstarter campaign.

The pair previously worked on magazines including ZZAP! 64, Computer and Video Games and Mean Machines. Golden Age will cover computers, consoles and coin-ops through stories, anecdotes and observations.

In his announcement, Jaz explains the project draws on the editorial approach of those earlier publications. He and Paul want to retain their conversational writing and humour without recreating an old magazine unchanged.

A free 38-page Issue Zero offers a sample of the planned publication. Jaz describes it as a dummy issue made to demonstrate the concept, with further layout changes planned for Issue One.

The Golden Age website provides the sample PDF and links to the Kickstarter campaign.
