Konami’s 1982 arcade game Tutankham has a new Amiga version from LC-Games, available now through itch.io. The digital release offers four difficulty settings and requires 512 KB of Chip RAM, with support covering PAL OCS, ECS and AGA machines.
NTSC compatibility covers ECS and AGA systems. LC-Games also describes the release as Workbench-friendly. The distinction between the two video standards is worth checking before downloading, since the developer does not include NTSC OCS machines in its compatibility list.
The download page lists an 880 kB ADF disk image. Its technical specifications also identify an executable among the included files. Distribution uses itch.io’s name-your-own-price model, and the game’s listed language is English.
Tutankham originally combined maze exploration and shooting in the arcades. Parker Brothers subsequently handled home conversions, including versions for the Atari 2600, ColecoVision and Intellivision. LC-Games’ release adapts the tomb-raiding premise for Commodore’s Amiga.
The developer’s screenshots show a maze map above the playfield, alongside the timer, score and stage number.
Horizontal firing and four difficulty settings
The explorer searches Tutankhamun’s tomb for valuables while creatures pursue him through its passages. Keys open the locked treasure rooms needed to progress, while optional rings and coffers add bonus points. The larger prizes include a map, a lamp, treasure chests and the king’s golden mask.
Movement works in four directions, but the weapon fires only left and right. Vertical passages therefore leave the explorer unable to shoot along his direction of travel. Warp zones provide another way through the maze by transferring him between locations.
Enemies emerge from spawning points throughout the maze, including snakes, bats, crows and dragons. Destroying these creatures awards between 20 and 60 points.
A flash bomb clears every enemy currently on screen, with one available per life. Meanwhile, the timer affects more than the score: allowing it to expire removes the explorer’s ability to fire. Finishing a stage with time remaining awards a bonus.
After the treasures have been recovered across the stages, play restarts at a higher difficulty with additional keys to collect. The scoring system awards an extra life at 30,000 points.
The four selectable settings are Novice, Medium, Hard and Expert. Their names differ from the original arcade settings: LC-Games says Hard roughly corresponds to the arcade game’s Easy setting, while Expert matches its Normal setting.
A joystick controls movement and shooting, with the Spacebar activating the flash bomb. P pauses play, Escape returns to the title screen, and F1 resets the ranking while the high-score display is visible.
