My Arcade’s Gamestation Retro Go finally gets an October release

After slipping from its original 2025 window, My Arcade’s large retro handheld is finally nearing release with an 8-inch screen and more than 200 games.

Gamestation Retro Go finally has a release window, with My Arcade confirming that its large retro handheld will launch in October 2026. GameStop currently lists the machine for 31st October at $199.99, with pre-orders now open.

The handheld has been hanging around since its original CES reveal in 2025, when it was expected later that year. That release did not happen, but the finished specification has grown to more than 200 built-in licensed games from Bandai Namco, Capcom, Jaleco and PIKO Interactive.

The library brings several familiar arcade and console names into the same device. Games previously shown for the range include Pac-Man, Galaga, Pole Position, Dig Dug, Street Fighter II, Mega Man, Final Fight and 1942, although a complete final game list has not yet been published.

A bigger screen and a different set of retro controls

Gamestation Retro Go uses an 8-inch high-resolution colour display and includes My Arcade’s SmartGlow system, which illuminates the controls needed for individual games. It also has built-in Wi-Fi for updates, game-save support, a rechargeable battery and HDMI output for connecting the handheld to a larger display.

The package includes an HDMI cable, charging cable and AC adapter. My Arcade has also changed the control layout since the machine was first shown, with the final design dropping the trackball and numeric keypad found on the Atari Gamestation Go.

That Atari-branded machine is the obvious relative. It uses a 7-inch display and combines its standard controls with a paddle, trackball and keypad for games that benefit from them, while Gamestation Retro Go instead concentrates on the Bandai Namco, Capcom, Jaleco and PIKO libraries.

The new model is also $20 more expensive than the Atari Gamestation Go at current GameStop pricing. Whether the larger display and different software mix make that difference worthwhile is something that will have to wait until the hardware is actually in players’ hands.

For now, the significant change is simply that a handheld first shown more than a year and a half ago has moved from trade-show promise to a product people can order. My Arcade says October for the launch, while GameStop currently gives 31st October 2026 as its release date.

The Gamestation Retro Go is available to pre-order from GameStop.
